Eco-Log was installed on a fleet of vehicles for a three month pilot in Southern England
The pilot involved light commercial vehicles running near gross vehicle weight limit in a predominantly urban setting
An immediate step reduction of 7% in fuel consumption was seen across the pilot vehicles
The most improved driver saved 18% fuel as a result of following Eco-LogTM instructions
Fuel saving
Typically the Eco-LogTM system can help fleets achieve a fuel saving of between 15 and 20% by providing drivers with immediate feedback which increases overall efficiency. To demonstrate the fuel saving potential of Eco-Log, the technology has been used in a number of different pilots and events of which a summary can be found here.
In a recent driving competition the winner showed fuel consumption of 2.344l compared to the worst performer at 4.594l. The best driver used the right rate of acceleration and braking, combined with appropriate selection of gears to get the best economy out of that specific vehicle.
During the MPG Marathon, an independent annual event run by Fleet World Magazine, the Eco-LogTM system was used on a Mercedes Benz Vito 111 CDI, with a 2.2l diesel engine. The Vito used an average of 35% less fuel than the manufacturer’s official figure. Based on these figures, £3.4bn in fuel bills could be saved across the 3.5 million LCV’s on British roads per year.
Typical savings by vehicle class
Passenger cars 16-24%
Light commercial vehicles 13-28%
Heavy goods vehicles 4-9%
