System Overview

Lysanda's Eco-Log gives a fleet operator the means to monitor the actual level and composition of a vehicle's emissions. And since CO2 output and fuel consumption are directly related, the Eco-Log calculates how much fuel is required for each given journey, and therefore how much is being wasted. It's a vital weapon in the battle to tackle the ever-rising cost of fuel.

As a software module, Eco-Log resides within a host tracker or Telematics unit. Lysanda has established partnerships with a number of Telematics operators who provide tracking services to their fleet customers. Along with data on position and speed, fleets can now receive data on fuel and CO2 from a single source. The only hardware required is a standard connection from the vehicle's OBD (On Board Diagnostics) port to the tracker unit.

For fleets which don't operate a Telematics system, the Eco-Log is available as a stand-alone black box fitted under the dashboard and connected directly to the OBD port. The fleet operator can download the data locally at the end of each period, to a laptop, a PDA or a USB stick.

The system is currently available in two specifications: Eco-Log Metro for periodic reporting (per trip, day, week etc) and Eco-Log Pro for real time reports (every minute).

Benefits

The Eco-Log is aimed at operators of commercial vehicles, public service vehicles and car fleets and brings a number of benefits, including:

  • Isolating problem drivers and/or problem vehicles, producing traceable data pointing to the amount, time, place and cause
  • Helping to reduce fuel costs
  • Demonstrating CO2 measurement capability to customers, present and potential
  • Calculating whole-fleet CO2 for Corporate and Social Responsibility purposes
  • Defending an operator's public profile as an adopter of measurable CO2 technology
  • Capturing elusive data on the harmful emissions of Particulates, NOx, HC and CO
  • Reducing engine wear and powertrain failures through diagnostics and prognostics
  • Proving to the authorities a clean bill of health and high vehicle operating standards.
