01.10.2009 Lysanda records success of TNT’s 2009 “Drive Me Challenge”

Lysanda, the vehicle management software provider, today announced the results from TNT’s 2009 “Drive Me Challenge”.

TNT N.V., the world-leading provider of express delivery services, organises the Drive Me Challenge for company drivers worldwide in an effort to: increase the fuel efficiency of their driving; reduce blameworthy road traffic accidents, and increase service levels to customers.

The 2009 TNT Drive Me final was held in the UK, supported by Lysanda Eco-Log technology.

Lysanda provided technical support for the measurement of total fuel used per team for 16 teams using 8 vehicles throughout the day.

Over the course of 16 rounds with 32 drivers a clear winner emerged with a total fuel used of 2.344L and C02 emitted of 6.6Kg. The winning driver used barely half the fuel of the worst driver.

Lysanda Chief Executive Alex Willard said:

“The Drive Me Challenge was a great success. The clear reasons for winning are: gentle acceleration; gentle braking; and minimum engine load used. Lysanda is delighted to have partnered with TNT on the 2009 “Drive Me Challenge”. Drive Me is all about promoting safe, efficient driving and so reducing fuel wastage and CO2 emissions. Eco-Log aims to help this too.”

“Fleet efficiency is fundamental to company profitability. Fuel costs are typically 20%-25% of fleet running costs and fuel wastage also suggests higher maintenance costs. Volatile oil prices have put additional focus on fuel efficiency and costs, which have direct impact on profit. Using vehicle engine data, Eco-Log takes fleet management to a new level of sophistication with significant fuel savings.”
