Emissions measurement company Lysanda secures £1.25 million investment led by Logispring
BRAXTED PARK, MAY 16, 2008 – Lysanda, developer of emissions monitoring software, has completed a second round of VC funding led by Logispring, the transatlantic venture and growth capital investor with offices in Geneva and New York. The latest investment of £1,250,000 will enable the company’s first product, branded “Eco-LogTM”, to go into production during 2008.
Logispring invests exclusively in businesses which improve the efficiency and environmental performance of global supply chains, including industrial processes, logistics and manufacturing.
Lysanda’s technology is specifically designed to help drivers and fleet managers improve the fuel efficiency and emissions performance of their vehicles by giving them real-time feedback on engine performance. While vehicle manufacturers are deploying increasingly sophisticated sensors and ECU software to ensure their engines perform to their design specification, these are not intended to help drivers to reduce emissions, such as by using different gear and throttle settings under varying road and load conditions. Hybrid vehicles also demonstrate widely varying efficiency depending upon minor differences in driver behaviour, which Eco-LogTM is able to identify.
The technology is able to capture actual fuel and emissions performance with great accuracy (better than 3%) at very high frequency without the need for any additional sensors. This provides a cost effective way to provide this data via in-cab displays or network-based fleet management systems.
Commenting on the funding, Lysanda’s CEO and founder Alex Willard said, “We are now up and running. For a market leader such as Logispring to invest in us clearly marks a turning point for our company. It?s a clear recognition of the scale of two huge problems we are helping to address: the rising cost of fuel for operators, and the threat to the planet?s climate from CO2 from road transport.”
“We are very excited to be able to help Lysanda bring this critical capability to vehicle fleets around the world,” added Marcel Timmer, partner at Logispring. “Companies are becoming aware that a large proportion of their emissions ‘footprint’ is determined by the efficiency of their supply chains. By adopting Lysanda’s technology, fleet operators can substantially reduce their own costs, while also reducing the contribution of carbon and other emissions of any type of passenger car or commercial vehicle.”
Legal support to Lysanda was provided by the corporate & commercial team of the Cambridge firm Taylor Vinters. Logispring was advised by the London office of US law firm Heller Ehrman.
